Celebrating the rescue of Bunma and her baby chaba august 2021

When the chains came off Bunma – A celebration of Freedom

A year ago this week, mother Bunma along with her tiny baby Chaba were rescued by Save Elephant Foundation and freed from captivity to spend the rest of their lives in the sanctuary of Elephant Nature Park.

This video reflects back on the awful circumstances of their life before their rescue and their subsequent journey to freedom and new found health and happiness at the park.

Chu Jai worked as a trekking elephant all of her life, even with a hip injury which affects her walk. We have taken her away from all of that. It took 19 hours on a truck to finally be free. A harmful past is now behind her. Thanks to the team who brought her to us safely, and especially to those who provided the funds sufficient to give Chu Jai a new life at Elephant Nature Park.

With love, food supplements, delicious veggies and fruits, mama BunMa finally has a milk for nursing her baby Chaba after only one day of their arrival.

Both of them are more relaxed and learning about the beautiful life they are starting at Elephant Nature Park. We hope the mother will build her weight soon, so their health conditions will improve.
