Jokia has been alone for a few months as the relationship with Pailin did not work out. But in this hiatus of companionship, know that she is very well and content in her privacy and personal peace.

Rescued Elephants MoLoh and LekLek update by our founder Lek

After a recent post about the difficulties of 2 newly rescued elephants settling into Elephant Nature Park, our founder Lek Chailert today made this observation: LekLek and her mother, MoLoh, have been in the Park for some time now. It seemed likely that they would be absorbed beautifully into FaaMai’s family group.

Elephant of the Week 31 July 2023: Jokia

Jokia joined our elephant family in 1997. Mae Perm, the Park’s first rescue, embraced her right away when they met and they were best friends until Mae Perm passed in 2016. Through Mae Perm, Jokia was introduced to many elephants, and, most significantly, to SriPrae who took Jokia into her family when Mae Perm died. Jokia became nanny to Navaan and the closest friend to his mother.

Jokia’s Rescue Anniversary

Jokia arrived Elephant Nature Park in August 1999. On her first arrival, Jokia was clearly delighted when she found that there is a big river to bathe everyday. She started her new life living with good care from her mahout who watches over her and assists with anything she needs help.
