A fun way to cool off, ThongJan plays at the river’s edge and opts for a mud spa to beat the heat. She loosens the mud with her feet and then flings it over her body before scratching her trunk against the bank, all the while looking super chilled.

Elephant of the week 24 September 2023: Super Nanny Srinuan
When she arrived at the park, she embraced her new family immediately. Not only is she the adoptive mother of DokNgern, she is also the aunty of Chang Yim, FaaMai, DokMai, and DokRak. And when Bunma and her baby Chaba first arrived she quickly moved to assist caring for Chaba.

Elephant of the Week 4 September 2023: Jaidee
Jaidee made it through all her years of service without any broken bones or dislocations but is blind in one eye and has minimal sight in the other. Jaidee is now ~76 years old. She can still move pretty fast for an old lady, which we have to be cautious of because she does not make friends readily. Her eye issues keep her mostly out of the sun and she goes for walks when the sun is setting.
Elephant of the Week 21 August 2023: Khamla
Khamla is the beating heart of the largest family group at Elephant Nature Park. There are 9 elephants who foster her care and well-being, with a mother Mae Baitoey and 2 Nannies, always doting on her. She is a most fortunate young lady to have been rescued at the age of 4 and brought under the care of Save Elephant Foundation. Much has changed since her arrival in 2015 and to see her thrive inside such a wonderfully committed family group has been nothing short of inspiring.

It’s heartwarming to hear about baby Pyi Mai’s journey at the Elephant Nature Park, growing up surrounded by love and care. Her bond with Nanny DMax and her role as a good sister to baby Chaba truly shows the compassion elephants are able to show and feel.
Elephant of the Week 10 July 2023: Landmine Survivor Ponsawan
Ponsawan is a former logging elephant and unfortunate landmine victim who was rescued by Save Elephant Foundation in August 2011 from illegal logging. She is now 29 years old. She truly loves her life of freedom in the sanctuary of Elephant Nature Park, and does not hesitate to express that. When the river is particularly high, she will be even more excited, and loves to run into the forest, always calling her friends to join with her.
Elephant of the Week 4th July 2023: 10 year old SanMueng
Seven year old SanMueng was rescued almost 3 years ago, from a zoo in Phuket where he had been forced to perform for tourists since the age of 2. SanMueng was taken from his mother when he was just three years old. Since that time he has only known a sad confined zoo life. SanMueng arrived at Elephant Nature Park on 10 September 2020 at the young age of 7 and now as a fine developing bull elephant, he is able to run freely in a huge enclosure and be cared for by people within the sanctuary at Elephant Nature Park.
