A tender moment between two close friends – Ponsawan and Mintra in the fast flowing river

Ponsawan loves fast water. She loves the deep water, and anticipates the water level rise after every rain storm at Elephant Nature Park.

Mintra is more timid, and checks with her friend if it’s ok to go swimming. Ponsawan shares here playful enthusiasm, and Mintra eventually joins her friend in the deep happy water.

The Incredible Senses of Elephants

While Mintra's herd was bathing in the river, they suddenly became alert to something and began making loud vocalizations to each other. They got out of the river and huddled together, slapping their trunks against the ground. We were puzzled by what had spooked them at first, but within a minute or two, a helicopter flew over the area, and it became clear what all the fuss was about.
