However, she her love and tenacity prevail and manages to dedicate quality moments with her beloved elephants. Every moment spent in their loving presence revitalises Lek's strength and determination to endure absence from her family.

Green Forest Day: Honoring Our Founder’s Birthday

On our founder Lek’s birthday, we come together to celebrate in the most meaningful way: planting trees and releasing rescued animals. This year, we planted 500 trees at our new land and released 16 rescued ducks. It was the perfect way for Lek to celebrate her special day by giving back. Happy birthday Lek! The world became a better place the day you were born.

Kaavan is now enjoying Cambodia Wildlife Sanctuary thanks to American Singer Cher

Activists around the world became aware of the plight of Kaavan in 2015 after petitions and news articles began to circulate about the dire conditions in which he was languishing. It was reported that he was bound in chains for over two decades. Activists led by Cher fought for several years to free Kaavan from the zoo and bring him to sanctuary.

Former world’s loneliest elephant Kaavan with a new lease of life

Rescued from a zoo in Pakistan, Kaavan was brought to Cambodia Wildlife Sanctuary and has a new lease on life. Kaavan enjoys the freedom of a 30-acre forest, with many ponds and watery play areas. He lives life now mostly on his own terms, with the dignity that befits an elephant.
