Afternoon rain showers bring a lot of joy to young elephants Faa Mai, Tong Jaan and mother Bua Thong.

Lolling around in the wet mud, it is a delight to see elephants having so much fun.

As they play, ThongAe spots a branch drifting downstream and nudges her 'sister' and grannies, Pikun and Khun Yai, out of harms way with a little conversation as they go.

Soothing Elephant Lullabies

As FaaMai grew, the tradition continued and the melodies took on new meaning. Although the lullabies may not serve the same purpose as before, they still bring immense joy to both FaaMai and Lek and continue to strengthen the profound bond they share.

Elephant of the Week 20 November 2023: ThongJan

A fun way to cool off, ThongJan plays at the river's edge and opts for a mud spa to beat the heat. She loosens the mud with her feet and then flings it over her body before scratching her trunk against the bank, all the while looking super chilled.

A Recipe for satisfaction – Mud Therapy expertly demonstrated by DokNgern

The herd of Buathong, DokMai, ThongJan, and Dokngern enjoyed a mud bath after the rain today, relishing the effects of mud on their skin. Mud therapy is a source of great pleasure for elephants and the mud at Elephant Nature Park is apparently pretty good.

Could a baby elephant bring her rejected mother into the herd?

Earlier this year, baby elephant LekLek and mother MohLoh were rescued from the Omkoi District of Chiang Mai by Save Elephant Foundation. On arrival at Elephant Nature Park, they were introduced to FaaMai's family but three months have passed and acceptance is not complete.

Elephant of the Week 7 August 2023: Elephant Ambassador FaaMai

She is often the critical link of fostering positive bonds between disparate groups of elephants. In this video, FaaMai can be seen bringing several groups together for a joint introduction. Unlike many videos captured by the Save Elephant Foundation Media Team, in which we hear loud conversations and other background sounds, this very natural and peaceful video captures the tranquil atmosphere of the elephant sanctuary.

Elephant friends FaaMai MaeLanna and SaoYai relax in the evening after a busy day

Whenever the opportunity arises, FaaMai will join with MaeLanna, and SaoYai at the end of the day. FaaMai is a friendly soul, and always non-threatening to whomever she comes into contact - our true elephant Ambassador - whereas SaoYai can be a more challenging subject when it comes to interpersonal relations. But look how these 3 enjoy each other's company ! They are quite fond of each other, fully content with their time together in the river at Elephant Nature Park.
