Elephant Nature Park

This fantastic sanctuary is located in Baan Lao, north of Chiang Mai where Lek Chailert – our founder spent her childhood. The sanctuary is home to four female elephants rescued from elephant riding camp. Nong Pop is 27 yrs, Mae Pond is 37 yrs, Kham Paeng 47 yrs and Kha Ting Daeng who was rescued in late 2017. Mae Pond and Kham Paeng are best friends, Nong Pop is so sweet and very friendly to people. Kha Ting Daeng has now formed the relationship with the other elephants. Four of them enjoy spending time on the mountain top, grazing on the tall grass. They are socializing and interacting as a herd. We are delighted to see elephants living peacefully in the most beautiful surroundings and fed by variety of plants grown at the project.

It is truly amazing to visit our ladies, take mountainside walking with elephants, feed them with bananas, refresh in the pond on top of the mountain with elephants hanging around and sitting near elephants to observe the herd living tranquilly.

Elephant Nature Park is also a Dog Sanctuary

Ahh-Da is just one of the many rescued dogs living within the sanctuary of Elephant Nature Park and he has become very friendly with baby elephants PyiMai & Chaba. He is just one of the family as he is also cared for by the mahouts that care for the young elephants.

Elephant Sanctuary Fun Hot Frolics

With daily temperatures of 40c, life at an elephant sanctuary offers several forms of shade or respite. MuayLek and Chompu know the immediate cooling effect of the refreshing water of the fast flowing Mae Taeng river that passes through Elephant Nature Park.

Namthip is receiving medical attention at Elephant Nature Park

Although NamThip is finally in her new sanctuary home, her health issues are quite pronounced. Our veterinary team promptly conducted further detailed health checks on her, including additional blood tests, stool sampling, and urine checks. Today, we also conducted an X-ray of her left hind leg, which seems to be problematic for her.
