Baby elephant rescue - health improving  - update

16 Jul 12

Our baby he's strong

Lek take care the baby
volunteers and vet students to take care of him 24/7 Lek and vet volunteer take care the baby

I would like to update story of the baby elephant rescue. Today the baby elephant is getting better, he drinks, sleeps and can have a good poo. All signs of improving health. We have the vet , volunteers and vet students to taking care of him 24/7. The baby keep walking around the shelter and he follows the volunteer foot steps as he would follow his mother elephant for comfort and security

As you know that when the baby born with out having the crucial first milk from mother, baby elephant will stay at risk , so we decided to bring the mother elephant (her name is  Mae Kham ) from the village to Elephant Nature Park and introduce her to know our herd who have the baby and let the herd show her how to take care of the baby.

Today around 4 pm after an all day journey from the Karen village the mother elephant arrived safely at our park. The herd came to greet her and welcome her to join the group. We hope our mother elephant the group of nanny elephants and our herd at the park will help heal her from her traumatise and hope she will accept her baby soon.

Much Love

Lek
