Street begging by elephants still
continues in Thailand, putting the poor
animals in danger every day. It has
ceased in Chiang Mai after our
volunteers help to sign a petition and
protest in May of this year, but many
cities of Thailand still allow the
owners to take their elephants to roam
the streets to make money.
During the floods, we were busy working
to rescue the dogs and cats from the
water, but sometimes in the late nights,
on our way back to our shelter we found
elephants walk in the middle of Bangkok.
If locals and tourists give money to the
elephant riders in the city then they
will continue to take baby elephants out
on the street. These elephants will
suffer and risk their life on the
dangerous, noisy polluted roads.
