Singapore based British Artist Clare
Haxby raised $910 sing dollars at her
Collection Art show at SAGG . This was a
solo show for Clare, a British painter
and printmaker who has her art bought by
collectors worldwide and has her worked
in the permanent collection of The
Victoria and Albert Museum in London.
In this show Clare was exhibiting
acrylic on canvas paintings and framed mixed
media works inspired by her travels around
Bali, Thailand and Singapore drawing on
themes such as The Ginger Lilies of The
Botanic Gardens, The Orchid House Flowers, a
series arresting Buddha head paintings in
Emerald, violet and Scarlet. Clare was also
showing her contemporary mixed media works
of the human figure.
On the Private view opening evening of
the show Clare organised a Raffle of one
of her pieces entitled 'Thailand
BuddhaTemple'. The lucky winner was Kim
Pierce and family. The Art Raffle raised
910 sing dollars for Clares favourite
charity The Elephant Nature Park.
" My family, - myself my husband Owen,
and my children Teddy and Scarlett stayed
at the park 2 years ago, it was an amzing
experience getting to bathe and feed the
elephants and learning about their history.
The experience made a huge impression on us
and we all would love to return one day."
On the night Teddy and Scarlett Wyrley-Birch
together with the Carmichael Children Jasper
Oscar and Lily organised the Art
Raffle and Teddy and Oscar also held some
sponsored chess match games to raise extra
funds. The Raffle was drawn by Scarlet
Wyrley-Birch and Jasper Carmichael. and
Scarlett bought at the park. We were very
proud of our childrens involvement in the
fund raising. We had the mahoot carving of
"max" which Teddy and Scalett purchased from
The Elephant Nature Park when we stayed
there as our mascot overseeing the night.
