Almost 100 volunteers participated in a tree planting event on the new property
of the Elephant Nature Park. Elephant Nature Park's staff, Bring the
Elephant Home's volunteers and 38 young students from the Star Fish School in
Mae Tang helps each other to plant. In a day we managed to get almost
4,000 trees planted.
The teachers of the Star Fish School explained how much
work it is to plant a tree, how long it takes to grow and how easy it is to
destroy. They became aware that they should never destroy something important
and beautiful like this. After the tree planting event, the participants visited
the Elephant Nature Park. Especially the children were very impressed by this
experience. They ask many questions and were exited to feed the elephants. They
all want to come back to plant more trees and be close with the elephants again.
The objective of this project is to create more natural habitat for our
elephants. Today we have 35 students from Rajabhat University joined with
the Elephant Nature park's volunteers. In the morning they planted about 2,000
trees at two sites inside the Elephant Nature Park. In the afternoon, Lek had a
little meeting with them on the beach hut. After finishing meeting Lek took them
to walk in the field. For all volunteers this was their first experience with
free roaming elephants. They said that they will never forget this day.
