Threshold Choir Sings to Our HerdThis group comes to Elephant Nature Park every year. Their group is formed from singers from different countries. This year they are from the United States of America and Canada. They arrived at Elephant Nature Park on Aug 3rd and left the park on the 6th August. Their objectives are to bring peace through music to the elephants and to honor our founder Lek. Kate the leader of this group said "The most important thing is that we want to support these beautiful creatures to live in their natural life and happily" The group sings to our herd, and the elephants really enjoy this. Here is why they keep returning:
Ms. Karen V. Stein. From Canada. My objective is to experience the elephants. This has been a very different and wonderful experience. It is a providence to be able to be so close physically to these majestic animals. And to understand how they have been misused and abused. I dream of a better world. Experiencing this nature reserve will assist me to speak as an advocate when I return home to Canada. Ms. Kim Ortman. From San Francisco Bay Area, California. These beings, like us in so many ways. Their nature with one another, the way they scratch themselves, smart, ancient and intuitive. One day is not enough to experience them as who and what they are. So lucky to get 3 days with these brothers and sisters. Much respect for the mahout, Lek and all people involved in their nurturing and care. Ms. Karen Detore. From California, USA. We have come to honor Lek and the elephants. To sing and bring comfort these gentle animals who have been rescued from their life as beasts of burden. Our delightful guide who knows and love each elephant has told us the most wonderful stories of each elephant and their families. On our first day here we sang lullabies to the baby girl elephant. We song her to sleep and we all fell in love with Faa Mai. Lek is a remarkable woman. I truly understand the meaning of “the power of one” after meeting her. The elephants seem to like our singing. We also have come like a herd with our leader, Kate manager. She has written many songs for the elephants here, in fact she wrote one this morning which we will sing for our new friends today. It’s called “Bring The Elephant Home” We are glad to have the universal language of song to share with the elephants. Ms. Christa Ortman. From California, USA. I see and feel and experience peace, joy, love and caring from the mahouts and volunteers. This is a place of safety and allows the elephants to simply “be”. I appreciate how the elephant one introduced to us not just by name but mostly by describing their character and by teaching us their stories. Our experience singing to these wonderful elephants beings and seeing their reach no and deprecations of enjoyment and gratitude warm my heart. I hope that Lek’s works will continue and keep being supported. She is an incredible woman with a heart. Ms. Laura Cowen. From Santa Fe, New Mexico. My objective is to education about the elephant and eco-tourism. We come as a group of singers to sing to the elephants. I feel everyone’s love at this camp for the elephants They are careful with us visitors to take good care, teach us many new facts and stories to help us understand. It is very peaceful, a good place to rest for us and the elephants. Thank you all your good work here!
