Mahouts and workers from Elephant Nature
Park took a 2-day break from their duties and boarded vans
headed for Pattaya. For many of them it was their first time to
the coast.
Arriving early on the morning of the 5th,
they checked into their hotel, Pattaya Cozy Inn, and then began
touring the area. After a quick meal, they boarded boats and
headed for Koh Lan, an island just off the gulf coast, viewing
sea life below them along the way. The rest of the day was spent
swimming in the sea and riding banana boats and jet skis. At the
end of the day, they enjoyed a dinner on the 52nd
story of the Pattaya Park Hotel from where they were able to
look down on the whole city. After dinner they explored the
beachside town before returning to their hotel to sleep.
The following morning, the mahouts and
staff went to the Pattaya Park amusement park to swim in the
pool and use the water slides. The park also had several
different rides including a swinging Viking ship and roller
coasters. After eating another meal on the 52nd floor
of the hotel, Darrick invited them up to the 56th
floor to ride the zip line down to ground level. Some of the
workers also went parasailing later in the day.
When the day was finished, all of the
mahouts checked out of the hotel and headed to Long Glua, a
popular coastal market and the final stop before the long
journey back to Elephant Nature Park in Chiang Mai. It was a
much-deserved break for all of our mahouts and staff that came
and enjoyed by all. There hard work throughout the year is much
appreciated. |
