Our founder Lek received a prestigious woman of the year' award in recognition of her environmental and conservation work with elephants. This award ceremony was presented at parliament by Her Royal Highness Princess Somsawalee and was in co-operation with 'The Gender and Development Research Institute', a non-profit organization, working towards gender equality in Thai society. Their 'Outstanding Woman Award' is awarded on  'International Woman's Day' and recognizes Women of Thailand who have worked hard to inspire, educate, guide and uplift the community.

The award is divided into 8 categories; agriculture, environment, local community leader, business, politician, corporate management, journalism and a special category for inspirational teenage female role models. There were also two other special categories focusing on organizations led by women. One was for OTOP (one tambon one product) and the other a community based organization. With over 3,000 nominees, only 10 received the award and Lek was one of them.

More than 1,000 guests were present at this event, including numerous Senators and government Ministers. The date chosen for this event was 08 March as National Woman's day is celebrated in Thailand
