Rara came from the Sheraton Krabi

Rara

Came to our herd: Oct 2009
Joining us from From: Sheraton Krabi
Rara arrived at the park in October 2009. She was quite depressed and a lonely figure. She had been kindly donated by the Sheraton hotel Krabi where she had worked welcoming guests. Her young life had been one of separation from other elephants. In the morning she would meet guests around breakfast and then swim for about one hour. She was loved by many hotel guests and this was the only company she knew.

She took a few weeks to settle in and soon found her ideal family after searching the herd for groups to join. First she visited Mae Perm and Jokia, Somboon group, then the grand mothers group, Kham Geaw, Kham Paan, Mae Tee. Another group consisting of a mother and baby elephant Mae Bua Tong and Faa Mai and Chang Yim 's family. Finally she chose to stay with Mae Perm and Jokia; as a result she is less nervous and more relaxed by the day and loves her new mahout Korn.

Rara originate from Om Koi area which is in Northern Thailand, so this is like a homecoming for her.

We thank the Krabi Sheraton for their kindness and thoughtfulness in sending Rara to Elephant Nature Park. Rara, aged seven, is still very young. We will do our utmost to make sure that she has fruitful and happy life. .
